Drum Triggers...how?

I'm not wanting to murder anyone. I would like an explanation of how a gate can determine the difference in 127 velocity levels though. :p

You don't seem to understand what that module is. It's a box that converts audio signals to midi. It's not a sound module: audio in > midi out. I don't think the technology is any more 70's/80's than a Roland V drum module. If you know how the "new" technology works, speak up.

It works more like an expander than a gate. (bad analogy) It's just a voltage follower.
