i rectomend the dr-880 if you have the dough...
if you want good heavy metal tones dfhs sounds good from what i heard from other artist... i guess i'll get em all, fuck it :o

Groove Agent

I've been using Steinberg's Groove Agent for a couple of years now and it's great. It works smoothly within Cubase and is a dream to program in MIDI. You can run each drum/cymbal out any of 4 channels for processing independantly so it's darn near like the real thing. Actually, it is recordings of real drum beats so in a way, it is the real thing. With more styles of drumming and kits than I'll ever use and at $200 bucks you can't go wrong.

Either Reason 3.0

or

Fruity Loops with Drum Kits from Hell as a plugin

my $.02

DFH..

with roland vdrums..

or a keyboard..

love it love it love it!

I use Fruity Loops with variable results: crappy to okay. Never great.

But, since the songs I write suck anyway, it's really no big deal.

Did you know that you can use a noisegate on a condensor mic?

Yeah, obvious, huh? Well, it skipped my mind after singing through ten songs.

DOH!

is there a mapping program on DKFH or BFD that comes with it?

Or do you have to buy a midi keyboard or a specific sequencer?

I have the Boss DR3 and looking to uprade to one of these two programs, both have insane sounds, (from the samples on their sites)

Just wondering if the learning curve is hard, and can you easily create full songs, I bascially have the drum patterns on the DR3 but just want to get better sounds, and mapp them into these progframs.

thanks

Could someone answer this?

I Love me some BFD. Sounds are great, the loops suck. If you can program them in MIDI it rocks.

For the mapping of these you have to have some sort of MIDI sequencing capability. I personally do the drum mapping in Cubase, and use BFD as an instrument within the program. Relatively simple for me, you just open up the MIDI editing and right where you want each occurance of a given part. To do this you really need to know enough about drums to understand how to p[lay them. Also, always remember that Drummers only have two hands.

bumpity bump.....
I was about to ask the very same question......
I'm about to put one on order....seems real nice.....
I've out-used my RX-11 and my HR16.
This "seems" real nice....and very easy to operate(?????).
I would like something with separate instrument outputs though, but I'll manage.
cheers.

Hey...I just bought the SR18...it seemed real nice, and I found one pretty cheap ($325AU)....from NewZealand.
I checked out all the product reviews on pootube, and around the net.....can't wait to get my hands on this thing!!
