drum set from 400 to 700

i am looking for a good drum set for recording and playing live with, i im looking for a nice set for under 700 hunderd or eight hunderd. i was looking at some pearl sets on zzounds.com but it says its a beginning set i need more of an inermeditate or expert set. the music i play is bands like Slayer, atreyu and some blink 182 any sugestions on any nice sounding sets?
 
A little more specific, maybe? Do you want just a shell pack? Do you need cymbals, too?

Those pearls you seen on zzounds were probably the "forum" series right?
well yeah, there actually considered a "begginer" set, but beleive it
or not, with the right tuning and good heads they actually sound pretty
damn good. I have a set and was very surprised with the sound after
I tuned them up and put new heads on. Now it's obvious they don't sound
like masters or a $3000. kit, but for the $$$ that these cost, there very good but the cymbals that come with this kit....throw them in the trash:).
I actually compared my forums with a yamaha stage custom kit and mine sounded better.
