I need a good set of overheads, I have a C1 and wonder if buying another C1 would be better than buying smaller condensers like the C4's or the akg451's, or what on a budget works and sounds amazing.............

I think that one C1 can make for a good overhead by itself. If carefully positioned, then it can put a good image in the monitors. I think this is the most slept on use for this mic.

OK, for the people who like pairs of things as overheads, I suggest the Studio Projects C4s. They are righteous in this app even if they don't get it done on acoustic guitar.

I think a good compromise budget pair of small condensers is the Oktava MK012.

Anyhow, here are reviews of both:

I would reccomend the AT Pro 37s. I got them for $137 each.. damn good mics. Or the AKG C430s, $200 for a pair from zzounds.

I think the C-4's rock, and I disagree with Warren's impression of them on acoustic guitar. I find them very good on acoustic, and truly excellent on nylon strings or nylon strung harp.-Richie
