i have 6 mics...

1 shure sm58 beta
2 shure sm58's
1 shure bg 1.1
2 audio technics?

my setup is/was this:

shure bg 1.1 (kick drum)
shure sm58 (floor tom about 1 inch in at a 45 degree angle
pointed at the drum)
shure sm58 (snare --> same as above)
shure sm58 beta (tom and ride)

ive never used the other two mics

my question: is there a better way i can record with these mics??? where should i put the other two?? helphelp!!

put the sm58 on the kick (the bg1.1 doesnt have a low enough frequency response)...the 1.1 on the snare....the two 58's on toms ....the 2 AT's as overheads.....

Are you using these mics for other applications also or just drums?

Would you happen to know what models those AT mics are , or at least are they dynamic or condenser...also, will these mics be used for live applications also, or just for recording?...

im using them for guitar and bass as well as vocals too...

im gonna try this setup and see how it works

yes they are for live application and im pretty sure they are dynamic...also, do u think taking the ball off would make ne difference???

Now to play devils advocate, you have 6 mics to mic the kit, but they are 6 mics that are especially for drums....depending on the quality you are expecting, you may want to throw thats mics at Ebay...you could get at least 300-350 for all 6 and go with mics that would work....

I would go with a 4 mic setup.....

This link is to a mic package and they also have an akgD112 for about 200.00...then go to:

Put the D112 on the kick, the Fox on the snare, nad use the tecniques from Harveyon the mxl1000's for the overheads.....
