I have a Roland vs880ex with external burner and a tascam DP01fx. I am new to digital recording but have lots of tunes to mix down. My problem is I have never worked with or used any type of rythem machine. I only have a couple franklins to spend so is thier anyone out there who could recommend a drum machine to startout with that will sync with midi and also sound good. Like I said I have lots of tunes but need more beats to lay down to give my tunes some flavor. I have my eye on some DR. rythem products but even then, I dont know which models to choose from. any insight from someone who has been in my shoes would be greatly appreciated ! thanks

Alesis SR-16.
At Sweetwater for about $150
Loads of useable sounds and user-friendly.

Yeah either the Alesis SR-16 and the Boss DR series are worth checkin out to. But if u plan on having a MIDI based production center then also check out the Akai MPC1000. A very user friendly machine.

I have a couple of Roland/Boss drum machines that I use a lot, the TR505 Roland-an older machine but good for basic beats, and a Boss DR670-more modern sounds, way more variety.
If you find a used Roland or Boss machine, you can download the manuals in PDF form from their website, also all the keyboards and Boss pedal manuals as well.
