whats a good drum machine/generator that is not very expensive (under $100) for metal drums? i have fruity loops, but the samples sound too cartoony and i cant figure out how to have time signatures (for tech metal).
help please?

p.s. i heard reason is good, but i dont have $400 to spare

i wouldnt buy leafdrums when you already have flstudio just get better samples for flstudio

good point. You can also use any wav samples with FLstudio. I just mentioned Leafdrums because I prefer the interface and really like the kick it comes with for metal. BTW, the free trial never expires, so I guess you wouldn't really have to buy it if you didn't want to support the developer.

the leafdrums are pretty cool, but again, the samples kinda suck, especially the high hat (it just cuts out, doesnt ring)

im messing with it right now, and i'll compare with FL

p.s. i love the bass drum in leaf

this cant be a good idea on the part of the developers

I hated leaf when I tried it a year or two ago. I used the Natural Studio Kit samples thru FL until I got BFD. One of the FL kicks is pretty damn awesome though. Tight and punchy.

..

ah screw my whole lead in drum machine preach that I just deleted.

I've had moderate success with hotstepper, fruity loops, boss's dr. rhythm, a yamaha TMX drum module, rhythm rascal, and probably a few other freebies along the line. They all end up sounding just OK. If you don't mind an external unit, I'd get a Boss/Roland one off Ebay - then you're not tied to your computer, they can do any time signature and configuration, and they don't sound too bad either.

i have a tmx i would but willing to sell if your interested you can pm but you will need to make some kind of trigger kit or keyboard to use it
