Get a Rode K2 and swap the tube with one of those recommended by kidvybes.
Sure, its 800 bucks in all, but it beefed my vocals up quite nicely
Of course, they weren't complete shite to begin with (not great or perhaps even good, but not shite either)... but hey, whatever works.
The only time I tried double-tracking I got this exact problem, and the two performances sounded pretty dead-on, of course they actually weren't...
It didn't sound like they were off in pitch, it just sounded like one was ever-so-slightly off-time from the other. Perhaps I should throw delay on one of the track and see what happens... might line right up
