My only other "weird" album I have is the Parlophone version of Sgt.Pepper,it has a recording on the inner groove of the recoprd that repeats itself.

is it an old original Parlophone?

Could be worth some serious cash if it is and if it's in very good condition.

It was from a box set I bought in 1979.My brother had a party once and trashed about a quarter of the set. When I got home there were LPs on the floor with footprints on them.:mad::mad:

I have a Johnny Winter album with three sides, the fourth side is smooth with no label.

Wow. Never saw such a thing, that was on the market for commercial sale. I DID once have a Peter Gabriel music/interview 2-record set, that was distributed to radio stations for play on the air- came complete with US Army ads- it was 3 sides. Very cool, and it was probably the last one in existence. When I moved to Atlanta 9 years ago, I posted it on eBay, and only ONE guy, who was in Germany, bid on it. It sold for something stupid like 25 cents- the guy said if I didn't want to go to the trouble of shipping it, he understood. I sold and shipped it, anyway- he was SO pumped to get it.

Wonder if he still has it?

I have that same box set. Each record in the set has been played about 3-4 times as I transferred to other media over the years. :)

I remember an album with 3 sides - 1 on one side, 2 on the other!! They cut parallel grooves with different songs on one side of the album. it was a total crap shoot which groove you got when the needle dropped. Pity I can't remember who it was by (if it had been anything other than a novelty, I probably would).

The Clash's "Sandinista" was a triple album that would have made a great single album.

There were also lots of weird records, different colored discs, discs with pictures embedded on them too.

Of course who can forget the records you would get on the back of cereal boxes.I still remember getting a Bobby Sherman single off a box of Crispy Critters.:D

I always loved double albums and very rarely did I need to condense them to a single or chop bits off although "Kiss alive 2" and "Made in Japan" were a couple. Gosh, "Physical graffitti" was my first Zep LP. I still love it and there isn't a song I'd dispense with ~ not even "Boogie with Stu" ! Actually, I'm quite surprized that the quality of most of the double albums I got in my initial burst of album collecting was so good. Stuff like "Bring it back alive" (The Outlaws), "Live" (Status Quo), "On your feet or on your knees" (Blue Oyster Cult), "Kiss Alive" (Kiss), The White album (The Beatles), "Live album" (Grand Funk Railroad)........That last Grand Funk one was one that the OP posted about ~ I could never figure out why sides 1 & 4 were on one disc. I thought it was a mistake. It never mattered to me because even in the 70s I recorded everything onto cassette in the order I wanted it.

My sister back in 1970 got this Cindy doll that came with a flexi disc. It was pretty good. I still remember bits of it and the guitar leads in the tune...
"We've got the answer - there's no doubt
We got Cindy. The doll we love the best.
Sweet Cindy, her name is Cindy
She is the sweetest doll you ever could see
Sweet Cindy, yeah, that's Cindy
Everyone knows that she belongs to me-ee"
[followed by spunky lead break !]

Either I've got one fantastic memory or I need to get out more ! :o

When you play it backwards it says, "Paul come back as superman" was part of the Paul is dead stuff that was around then.

Also on the fadeout of "I am the walrus" there is a line that says, "I buried paul".

Alan.

Watch out, posters to this thread: Now that Greg L has posted here, be prepared for him to say that everyone here who is not a drummer doesn't know what he's talking about.;)

Paul is dead started after those albums.

He's got to be the whiniest little baby on the internet.

I'm guessing something happened in the "cardboard box/bass drum" thread since I un-subscribed from it. I didn't bother going back after my last post, since he pretty much admitted he had no intelligent response to my post before that. What a buffoon.:laughings:

I basically just said that he's obviously not a drummer. And I'm right. He's not. He doesn't get it. It's not a big deal and I don't see why he's so sandy about it now. I just reminded him that drummers typically take pride in their drumming and drum sounds, and we don't mind spending a little time getting it right instead of immediately reaching for the tupperware and/or suitcases.

That's right, on the evidence gathered from going back through these albums, from Revolver, St Peppers, the "Magical Mystery Tour" (which incidentally was only an album in the USA, it was a double EP with a comic book in the UK and OZ, I have a UK and OZ copy). On the Abby Road Album you had the barefoot thing and the 28 IF numberplate.

It was all rubbish of coarse with people finding all kinds of clues that were not there. I loved it at the time following up the clues, playing songs backwards, listening to fadeouts, great stuff.

Alan.

Sweet JESUS, you two, didn't you see the ;) there?? Good God, who's the whiner, now? Can't you guys enjoy a joke?

Lol. You've been dancing all over the place in here whining about the drum bullies. You aint joking, you really are upset. :laughings:

No, Greg, I am not upset. I was a bit miffed for a short while, as I mentioned, but I accepted your statement that you did not intend to step on my toes (or something along those lines) and moved back to what I thought was a fun discussion. Really, I am beginning to wonder why you keep insisting I am upset. I would be a better judge of my feeling much better than you.

As for whining, I was truly joking, and I thought you would get the joke. I certainly got a chuckle at the shots you took at me, I figured you would do the same.
