Don't drink and record!

Marking my territory
The other night, I put down what I considered was a good song. I took me ages to get the guitar parts right but I eventually did. I then set about writing lyrics aided by a refreshing New Zealand beer. Anyway, the wife was out at her works Christmas do and when she came back she felt like singing (again with a refreshing New Zealand beer). When I woke up the next morning, I realised that I had inadvertently recorded the missus over a part of the guitar track which had taken me ages to get right.

So I hooked up the USB cable to my laptop and went through all the "undeleted" tracks and lo and behold I found the original guitar track. So, using WAV manager, I backed up the song and copied the guitar track to the folder I had created for the back up, deleted the corrupted track and rename the guitar track to "tr01.wav" and then imported back to the MR8. All fixed!

The wife gets up and says " you didn't record me singing last night did you?". And being the gallant husband, I said that I hadn't.... Aren't I good?

Nick
Raining in New Zealand.

PS Did I mention that I have got one of the rarer RED Mr8s ?

You've not only saved the track--but probably your marriage as well. :D

Shameless... lol

What is a brand of "refreshing new zealand beer"?

Don't recall hearing of any, and being how I was just contemplating a not-so-fresh-american-but-cheap-beer... just thought I'd ask.

Congrats on that rare find. She'll be the ruby of your eye, and the final filling-out of your soul, in red. When it is raining you can revel in her scarlet beauty.

Treat her kindly, for she can be a fickle mistress...

and hide the file of your wife singing, hide it well...

I have a red spaceship, where I keep my backup MR8.

(huh huh.... he said "red rocket"... huh huh)

You're sooooooooooooooooooooo lucky!

In the analog world, your track would have been toast.

Oh yes - sooooooooo lucky

Yep you are so right. I used to think that all the "unused" files were a pain but I have now got into the habit of not deleting unused until the space on the card starts getting critical. I have also got into the habit of backing everything up all the time too...

I was being a bit sarcastic about the refreshing New Zealand beer. It is just cold and wet and quite fizzy. I originally come from England and there the beer is heaven. We used to decide which pubs we would go to that night depending on what beers they had on tap.

The missus actually sings very well but that night wasn't one of the good performances ....

It is now sunny here again.

The unused files saved my dumb ass a few times too. But you did delete your wife's tracks, right? It's best she never find out about 'em!

Especially caught-off-guard naked pics... but he already told her that she didn't record anything, so if it comes up later.... let's leave it at that!

I think it's about a 50/50 mix of terrible judgement the night before and a huge hangover the next morning that brings out the "oh my god, what was I thinking???" response in me. I don't do it that often anymore. I still have a few beers, because it's a depressent, so it relaxes me before I play, and I found out that I make less mistakes. But I NEVER get tanked and try it anymore.... Such a waste of time and energy. I could have been out kicking the neighbor's dog, instead I was abusing my eqipment! :D
