How about your precious drug money then?
Hector_Osbert said:Why does s/w theft have any link to my ability to compose? I thought we were past the whole pirating thing, I'm a lost cause. Let ME clue you in on my point. You guys thought I couldn't make music. I have shown otherwise. My case is therefore at rest. I know no one here could give a rats ass if I was dying of cancer, let alone if I had any talent. But at least you know that I do, whether you see it as a talent for creative compostion or as a talent for pissing people off. You're probably just jealous that my thread has shaken the very foundations of this board and that everyone here knows my name and not yours.
And to those future jaded reponses that this may incite saying 'harhar now the police will know your name'...well, good luck to any authority finding me let alone trying to bust me. I relish the excitement!!![]()

At the age of 18, one of my orchestral compositions was performed at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. My piano album was ranked among the top 30 independant best sellers on Amazon.com for over a year after it came out. In '98 my band opened for Blink 192, the Deftones, Bad Religion and NO FX on the Van's warped tour. The same year we represented Oregon in the Ernie Ball International Battle of the Bands Semi Finals.

A very good read while bored at work.
Ok, my view is this: If you can't afford such an interest, don't take it up until you can. I mean, if I fancied collecting fine art, I'd wait until I'd built up enough wealth to start my hobby rather than raiding the National Gallery...
I think that makes sense...
I remember when I was doing my music degree 6 years ago - we used Performer and Pro Tools in the college studios. I didn't even OWN a computer to do my work on, let alone be able to get hold of pirated software...
Aye, days were hard lad, days were hard...

It looks like life is persecuting him enough and he thrives on it. Take pity on those that read this thread and find there's nothing more to it than people like Hector have no remorse.
This thread is like a virus that just keeps growing. I'm wondering, will it hit 500 posts before the price of oil hits $50 a barrell?![]()

Copyright infringement is theft. Doh!Radian said:With all of that said, I think it's really a copyright infringment here then a theft issue.
Free advertising? You call that rational?Radian said:The cracked version was free advertising for Cubase. I believe that a lot of comments made here on this thread were coming more from anger then rationalism.
Your whole post is irrelevant. Umm sorry, think that was angerRadian said:Another point to make. I have heard a few comments stating that the people that haven't purchased a legal copy of the software aren't serious musicians, etc. The software piracy in relation to musical talent is totally irrelevant.
Your bias is pretty clear, just maybe not to you and yeah, you've stated discrepancies alright, but they're all yours.Radian said:I'm going to stay unbiased on any opinions of the piracy issue. I just wanted to state the discrepancies in the comparisons made earlier.
