Well...sometimes in the Newbies Forum we try to "nurture"....though it usually ends up being "tough love". :D

I've never measured my internet penis, though I'd hazard a guess that it's at least a gigabyte.

I usually stay out of there. N00bs just want quick fixes and easy answers to the same old questions over and over. They get caught up in the unimportant things and run to tricks and gimmicks that are never better than just using sound fundamentals. I got no time for n00bs.

I was mostly kidding. I'm not really calling it a cult, but I could see some crazy types hanging out at a place like that. A place where people really searching for something to fill a void in their lives can go to be nurtured and belong. I'm sure it's fine, but if they hand you a pair of Nikes and a cup of Kool-Aid, get the hell out of there.

My, my, what a difference a little bit of time can make. I remember when you and I would be at each other's throats with sharp, jagged-edge knives over far less, Greg. I drifted away from HR for a while, had some not-too-pleasant stuff happen to me during that hiatus, and when I came back a while ago to see what was happening here, I was not the same person I once was. I have no idea what you were doing during that period, but it doesn't matter- I'm a better man now, and even if you feel you are the same person you always were, I find myself viewing and reacting to the world differently, now.

That's all very good. I don't really know what any of it has to do with me though.

Lots of good advice all around! This thread has derailed a little bit as of right now but ill give yall an update: So we are loading in at 4PM. Drums and amps can go till 9PM and things such as percussion and vocals can go till 11PM.
We are most likely going to be recording 5 main songs that will go on an EP and two songs that we recorded in 2011. The later two don't really need to get finished in the studio, if necessary vocals and guitar could get done in our home studio.
I found out that this studio charges 75 hourly and that seems steep for a place that is only willing to let us use their sm57's sm58's and beyer M88's. The fact that they are holding out on their earthworks mics really bugs me!
Good advice on the taking notes. Having a recording of a practice and discussing issues is something that is overlooked. Amp settings and gear are important too!
The session is also on my birthday so after we finish recording it will most definitely be party time!

Thanks! Ill probably have some stuff up in mid to late june!

That makes absolutely no sense to me. Very odd.

Well, enjoy the session!

If you're paying the full rate, surely you'd have access to their good equipment. Maybe that's just the deal for the competition prize.

You're probably right. It would have been unfortunate if a band won and didn't have their own mic locker.

If the studio is trying to promote itself by giving away studio time and then doesn't put it's best gear towards the winner...kind of shooting itself in the foot there. Why wouldn't you want your studio's output to be 100% awesome on every session? Ah well, to each his own...

At the end of our set when we won the battle of the bands I was playing bass on the floor. The lead guitarist was on the floor. And the rhythm guitarist was up against his amp making feedback. Maybe we scared them;)

Ha! And the penny drops...
