Does Only Size Matter? What about Shape?

I am designing a home studio, and as usual, there are limits to what I can build. And a big IF, if it ever happens!
As I understand it, a room size that is at least 23x17x10 (LxWxH) is a good start. That's a large space, of course, when one is considering cost!
But my MAIN QUESION is: as long as I make it that size, can I build it in a non-rectangular shape? I wanna live in a cool house with angles!

Not having parallel walls will cut down on standing waves and nodes that cause irregularities in the sound.
