Does anyone have "In The Style Of-Van Halen"?

I really want to learn Riff #7 it's awesome, but I must be missing something on the dvd and in the tab cause I can't get it to sound right. any hints?
 
I used to play in the style of Van Halen

but then I sobered up.
 
If it is, just make sure you're pulling the B string 7th fret off to open. Try and get the fleshy part of your finger to pluck a bit as it pulls off.
 
One more thing, Eddie does this lick a gazillion times in his playing. It's in Eruption & Somebody get me a doctor. Probably just about every other early Van Halen song.
 
Using your 1 3 and 4th fingers it occurs on the G and B strings 7th, 9th and 10th fret.
I think we're thinking about the same thing since you mentioned the index finger on the 7th fret, pulling off.

Maybe I need a thinner guage set of strings, like 9-42.
 
I just stumbled across this thread. Did you ever get the lick down? Yeah, a thinner guage may help. Alot of that type of players use 8's or 9's. You may lose some tone but it can help with playing van halen style licks. I use 10's but I play alot of other crap too. This particular lick is also used in 'Eruption' around the 5 second mark, in the key of A (minor pent) and in 'Somebody get me a doctor'. By the way, lick# 6 is also from 'I'm the one'. Hope you got them. They're coooooool licks that can be used over & over & over (just like eddie does!).

No I haven't. It seems my individual joints on my fingers won't let me. They want to bend, and I think my pinky isn't long enough like my dick isn't long enough to be a porn star.
