Does anybody know what this chord is?

Correct, but with an added 5th it makes the 5th(s) more prominant and lessens the sound of the third.

Still a G as you said, but with two 5ths as opposed to one.

Doesn't matter ... even if the chord had 14 5ths and only one 3rd ... it's still a G chord.

And I'm pretty sure Carsoste is still a troll.

Hello:
but had never run across that particular chord before and thought that I would receive some help in a pleasant way. As for the rest of you who felt that they needed to respond to my post by making stupid, insensitive, snide comments, you're all jerks!
I didn't join this site to be insulted and I wouldn't have insulted any of you with such a post.
I think that if any of you who made such comments have any kind of a conscience you should apologize.

My apple-urges.
I for one wasn't being insulting but I'm sorry if my pitiful attempts at humour {of the non insulting variety} caused you any bad feeling. It wasn't the intention.
Forgive me for saying this, but it did seem like an odd question, especially when taken with your other one {the B minor one} and the fact you prefaced it by saying you had 14 years experience.
I've relieved all my pressure......

Ditto to the apologies form others above. However, the 'reasons' stated by others apply.

If you are really unfamiliar with the different fingerings for G major, or any chords, I suggest you get a book such as this one - there are plenty of these out there.

Now what if the guitar he was using at the time was in an open tuning, then it may not be anywhere near a G . could also explain weird fingering.

Dude, he was talking about Dylan, you'd be lucky if it was in any kind of tune.
