Listen 1st, to the close to finished product...

--> Close to finished mix, click here <--

Now that you've heard it, there is a good place to find out EVERYTHING that is done, all the way down to exact plug-in settings and screenshots of the plugs, and the tracks are even available to you free of charge for you to mix yourself and hear them before and after. If you cant get near this level of clarity and space, then maybe this will help you.
Give me some feedback.

Start with April, work your way on through the mix.

Other cool Charles Dye stuff

Enjoy, this will keep you busy.

Oh yeah, I think September is where the 1st Free Companion digistudio thingy is availble with the tracks to mix. I suggest reading up until then though.

This stuff is great.
Great idea to list exactly what they did. The tracks idea is awesome.

Great find Tubedude!!!

I love his quote about the Mute button. Another one I'd like to post on the wall.

Great link - thanks. I bookmarked it and plan on reading it all if I EVER get through with the studio

I like the guy's pragmatic approach... a guy working in the business, making a good product, despite the digital sucks bandwagon. He seems to be the antithesis of common practice, and uses an approach that most musicians could adopt... the guy is plug-in crazy... but somehow, it works for him.

Even learned something in the way the guy approaches reverb! Now, if only I could find those saturation plugs for VST :o

Well I preused the sites you recomended.

All I can say it is your a Pro-Tool user it's great.

I didn't find much there that I haven't seen covered here or other places. I found very little of interest to me.

The recording was good, it was difficult to hear the lead vocals though. I think it would sound better if the guitars didn't dominate the mix. It almost seemed like you were intentionally covering up the vocals by raising the guitar levels. Just my humble opinion. Thanks for sharing.
