Do you see this as a problem or not?

I'm setting up in a small room. I will have 2 rack peices that take up 1 space and one rack peice that takes up two spaces. I've been trying to find cheap boxes to put them in, but is that even needed? I plan to have these rack units on the front shelf of my recording desk, one to the left and one to the right of the shelf.

So my questions are,

1) Is it a big deal to have two rackpieces stacked on top of each other without being in some type of box or will that create problems with ventilation. (The units would be a Sansamp RBI and a Furman PL-8 II)

2) With the two 2 high rack boxes or bare units at either side of the shelf, would it be a problem to have my monitors sit on top of them using mopad's?

I forgot but what is a exact rack dimension? Isn't it something like 1'Dx19"Wx2"H?

Also do you happen to know of any cheap 2 space rack boxes?

Thanks,

Mongoo

You might want to put some sort of rubber buffer between the rack pieces. That would allow for a little ventilation and also hold them in place. If you just put metal on metal the units will possibly slide around easily. Those little rubber feet you can buy in any hardware store would probably work fine.
