Anybody ever heard Motorhead? They're pretty damn loud, too. I'm sure there are people that may blast their Motorhead, Metallica, Iron Maiden, or whoever. This isn't just a "rapper" issue. I've even heard guys blaring country music out their windows.

I thought about saying the same thing. Maybe not with motorhead as an example but different strokes...

I don't think it's a volume issue, I think it's more the fact of explicit language being heard by children.

They have to grow up sometime. You can tell them that those words are bad but some people still say them. Or you could just pretend that bad things don't exist. I don't think anyone swearing around me when I was little (which I really don't remember anyhow) had a negative impact on my life.

alright...

basically like one of the folks said.. different strokes for different folks.

im a true school hip-hop head til the day i die. hell im in zulu nation...

and i love listening to rap.

but i just think its totally retarded for someone to impose their own opinions of what others should listen to or not... OR talk about how one genre sucks over another...

im sure we can find overwhelming evidence to either support the "hatred" or "love" for either rock music or rap music.

i think true/real musicians/producers in any genre... respect and enjoy all kinds of music... music producers such as alchemist and havoc (who ive actually gone record diggin with)... they enjoy all kinds of music. they dont just sample... they are a student of music as a whole...

i have elvis costello, ac/dc, and some classical music in my playlist right after ultramagnetic mcs and kool g rap.

for all those haters... just stick to your own shit. sure you hear rap playin all loud in the cars and shit... but thats not to say that i havent heard rock music playing just as loud from some cars as well.

we're not trying to impose shit on yall... were (or at least im) not hating on rock music...

so lets just leave it at that.

peace love respect work knowledge fun understanding

man please... Downfall of society. The downfall of society will be people that seek to outlaw breif loud noises because they are "offended" by them. I don't bump my music at 1am in a neighborhood but I do around town. And if you can't take a little loud music for a couple of seconds get a life. You guys are hardcore.... ;)
Trace it back throughout history. The downfall of every society is pride, selfishness, and blatant disrespect/disregard for mankind.

Ask Napolean, Alexander, or Hitler about it. ;)

American society is at the breaking point, it's evident by the nightly news. Rape, murder, random assaults... It all boils down to blatant disrespect for your fellow man.

If you can't see how blaring your music at obnoxious levels (regardless of genre) is disrespectful to others, you're probably part of the problem and not the solution.

what a bunch of pussies... If it's too loud you're too old.

Maybe I just don't respect pussies. I thought all you rap haters were rockers. The only rockers I know that turn down are infact... too old. You guys have fun listing to your Jimmy Buffet at low to moderate volume. I think I'm gonna keep bumpin my music till everyone hears it. Free publicicty. I'll just shove it down everyones throat (who can't ignore a little loud music for 10 sec at a stop light).

blah blah.... I don't want to hear about why your pussy hurts. Fucking Jimmy Buffett lovers...

You dislike "Youth Culture." I'm guessing that you get back every bit of respect that you give. So if you aren't getting any maybe it isn't the "youth culture" that is to blame. You act like you have some right to not be disturbed by moderately loud music for a passing few moments or that somehow people bumping music is a sign that the entire 15-29 yr old poputlation is distainful. But the truth is that maybe the best thing to do is lighten up and realize that some people like loud music. And if you aren't one of them just wait until the light turns green or maybe... roll up your windows?
....
maybe you should grow up and realize that you have no right to appeasement by others. I've never heard of the right to not be annoyed, anyyway. People will listen to music you don't like at volumes you don't approve of. Learn to live with it. Don't be such an old curmudgeon. A little acceptance goes a long way. Like I said; with respect, you get what you give.

Since you started this thread, why don't you take some of your own advice and realize that if people are going to do what they want, have their own opinions, impose their will on you without regard to your feelings on the matter, disrespect you, etc...you should just shut up and deal with it. Or should I say something more like...."stop being a pussy."

It's all the same. You even said it yourself "you get back every bit of respect that you give". It's clear that you're not too concerned about demonstrating respect for others so you shouldn't expect to get much back.

If you want to "shove your stuff down everyone's throats" you should be willing to "have some acceptance" for the people who want to tell you how they feel. "Learn to live with" people hating on your music. I can't believe you can't pick up on the simple irony of this.

I'm not expressing any opinions on the matter, I'm just pointing out the glaring problem with your point of view.

I loathe hip hop...however, not everyone that hates that form of music is racist..I assume that you gents would be smart enough to know that. Hell, i dont like techno either. or german schlager or drum n bass.. or heavy metal..

This guy is a racist

I just dont like the genre... and I really dont like assholes OF ANY race, creed or color blaring their music(whatever that may be) so that I can hear it. Keep your music to yourself. Be intelligent. any dumbfuck can play music at earsplitting volume..the thing is..noone gives a shit how hard your system can bang. noone gives a shit what is in your system or in your fucking radio. Hell, ive got about 23,000 dollars in my home playback system(just the audio portion)..but I dont crank it so everyone will come check me out..that sort of thing demonstrates insecurity...

noone will think you are hard because you listen to _____... what does make a mark on people is good manners, intellect, and common courtesy..turn the shit down. "hardasses" are a dime a dozen. it is those who have good sense and class that are in the minority.

and try to expand your mind outside of the reaches of your own prejudices..quit lumping all people in that dislike rap in the category of "racist" or "rockers"..you denounce narrowmindedness, yet at the same time, keep propagating it...

That whole Jimmy Buffet shove it down your throat thing was SARCASM!!! (for the second time) And I didn't start this debate. Just playing devils advocate cause everyone one else is too pussy to admit that they like to bump their music too and there is nothing wrong with it. (Even if it is that cursed rap music).

I have yet to find a genre with no good artists. Don't listen to the crap and give the good stuff a chance (B.I.G., Wu-Tang, The D.O.C). I really think it's worth it.

"bumping" the music is no big deal..but I dont want to hear it, and if I am around someone that is bumping it, they will be asked to turn the stuff down.

it is your right to do as you please AS LONG as it does not step on anyone else's right to remain in silence. I would hope that you have sense enough to know that.

stylistically, I just dont like it..I like melody, harmony....sure hip hop is percussive and requires some understanding of rythm and lyrical flow..but it just is not my cup of tea. i can respect intelligent lyrics..but for that I would rather read poetry books...without the distraction of background "beats" ..the closest thing I have come to halfway liking the stuff is Saul Williams.

Well I'm in PA and you are in Germany so I don't think it's quite THAT loud. And you have NO right to remain in silence. You have the right not to be subjected to noises over a certain level (usually fairly loud) but certainly not silence.

And I don't turn down for Five-0 either so I think if I were breaking the law in any way by playing my music at the levels I do I would have heard about it by now. But if you are more anal than the cops...

some cops dont mind it, some do. it is my right to not hear your noise.I will make sure that my right is enforced... period.end of story. I havent tolerated it in the past,. I dont have to, and I wont in the future.. the best thing to do is just respect those around you and keep your noise to yourself. I dont get it anyway..why play music so loud??are some people deaf?

and this goes for ALL forms of music. I dont give a damn if it is a band I like. If I want to hear it, I will play it. dont want to hear anyone elses racket.

Better not make a sound BigRay doesn't like guys... Elsewise he'll come and enforce his "right to silence." I'm scared...

get over yourself. You can't force your will on others just because you don't approve of the things they do. That would make you an egotistic asshole... and I know that's just not who you are. ;)

mrT - Not to take this thread in a whole new direction but hopefully to help close it out is the tinnitus thing. I can promise you that continuous exposure to those sound levels will f*ck up your ears. And yes, I do speak from experience. And yes, if I had it to do over I would not have played my music that loud for any extended period of time. I lived more in the country though so there wasn't much chance of bothering others. And when we went into the city itself we did turn it down because the police would pull you over otherwise.

In california there sure as hell is. Your car stereo is illegal if heard more than 50 feet from the vehicle (27007 VC).

And if it's at a residence a good old fashioned noise complaint will do. The content of the nusiance music is another matter altogether.

....I can deafen myself completely, if I want to do so, with headphones....no need to bug anybody else, unless that's the whole idea to begin with...

Come on man..grow the hell up, and quit trying to be an internet tough guy. Act mature for a bit, eh?Ive been around them in the army,in civilian life, in combat, and can spot em from a mile away. You obviously need to brush up on your state laws and city ordinances..You have the right to play your music as loud as you want AS LONG as it does not impede on the rights of others. If I hear your music from my car, my apartment, whereever..that is the wrong answer. The common sense thing to do is just respect whoeever is telling you to turn it down. you claim to be a producer/engineer..You should at least have the good sense to not fuck up your own ears. Why would you want to listen to music so loud anyway??What is the reason for that?? It is so easy to be an idiot and act disrespectful and go the way of the off brand fake thug..the hard thing to do it act like you have half a fucking brain.

Just use your head. Show respect and youll get it. Race/music aside. Ive been around enough music types and ethnicities here in Europe/Asia and the mideast to have friends from all of em...we all have respect for each other.

Respect..try it for a bit.
