Mr. Moderator....

...could you kindly remove this thread. as it is only a remnant of the dumbest and most inarticulate question I have ever posted to this BBS.

Thank you.

Well it is not that completely dumb a question. Sometimes a newbie will stick an in-line attenuator or a compressor into a signal chain and think that they have solved a problem when in fact the microphone is STILL being subject to damaging sound pressure levels.

Thanks......but I still was being a little dense.

I was basically heading along the lines of whether you could really suck out the low (if that was the goal) by using the mic's roll off AND the pre or mixers roll off.

I actually asked it as something like ....if the mic rolls of the low end 10dB from 80hz to 20hz and the preamp attenuates 10db from 80 to 20, will engaging both knock 20db off 20hz OR will the 20hz ONLY be attenuated by a maximum of 10dB??

Because obviously the preamp can plainly see that there is a microphone between it and the source. And its that same loser mic that thinks Nothing's Shocking is a better album than Ritual when everyone knows Ritual is way better (even with the song Obvious).
And the preamp is thinking, there is no way I'm going contribute anything to what the mic is doing until he learns something about good music....much less taste.

I mean duh!

Its kind of funny, Gidge, hearing someone recomend Cool Edit 96.
...like back in the day.

Well....unless I'm even dumber than I thought......I believe I knew the answer before I wrote the question.

:)

I'd have to agree with your preamp on this one.

Ritual is just a flat-out classic. Then she did . . . 3 days . . .

Great stuff.
