Do I need a Strat?

That's a fucking funny animation Greg.

But be nice guys...

Funny story about Stevie Ray... I had a friend who was a big fan, and he heard that when Stevie was here he was going to do an impromptu performance after a well known local act. So we all turn up... and eventually the local act starts up its encore’s... and then my friend suddenly jumps on the stage and grabs the singer and wants a fight about "where in the fuck is Stevie"?

Long story short... we had to save our friend's arse by dragging him out while apologising to the bouncers... and 10 minutes later Stevie came on and played for 45 minutes (to an late-night mid-week audience of less than 100).

Would have loved to see that. I saw him in St. Louis a month before he was killed. Great show.

Ha! I at least wanted to read a clever rebuttal. But there is a fine line between clever and stupid. I'm thinking you ride that line. You are almost clever and not quite stupid. You're just miserable.

I jammed with SRV once in Baton Rouge before he got big. His name wasn't even on the marqui ..... just double trouble I believe.

I've never been a SRV fan myself but i'm not overly into modern blues ...... I prefer BB King and Big Joe Turner and the older guys. Just how my taste runs.

I'm not convinced a Strat will give you anything the Tele can't cover. I have an American Strat and a Mexi Tele (and another Tele that is a "home made" guitar using Fender parts). I personally use my Tele's waaaay more than the Strat.

I've come to the conclusion I'm more of a Tele guy (I like my women slightly mishaped)

Many times i have preferred my Tele. A Strat is my first love but it can't get the sound of the Tele with both pups. I love that sound as it allows me to pick the strings like an acoustic, getting bright or mellower tones wherever i choose to pick. Those two pups at the same time have the whole sound of the Tele ready to go. Also, i moved the volume, tone and pup selector backwards, so i can do volume swells easier. When i know i'm gonna do swells and dynamic playing, i usually grab the Tele. But my Strat is just so damn comfortable. I know i could wire it to get the neck and bridge pup going, but that's when i grab the Tele. I guess i'm torn. I love both.
