Do I need a Mixing board?

billy - with respect that system is old.
one problem is that multitrack software today normally needs
512 ram. your low on ram. also the the hard drive is not suitable imho.
as the other poster said, maybe you can do a few tracks....
but its really not suitable for modern multitrack recording.
also sb 16 sound cards are mainly for playing windows burps and sounds,
not proper high quality recording of tracks.

I realize I need a complete new system. I'm a little short on funds at the moment. it's good to be thinking this thing thru though. One can easily go out and buy a bunch of stuff and not be happy with it.

I'm shopping/browsing. The dell website has some good deals, I think.
