Hi.
I managed to luck out and find a DN60 lying in a warehouse, all on it's lonesome. It's goign to need a bit of a service, but, well, that happens.

Anyway, I'm haveing issues finding a manual on it, can anyone suggest where to look? I'd prefer a PDF version rather than forking out for a manual from the states or the UK.

Also, is there a specific mic designed for the DN60, or will any calibrated mic do? If so, does it need to be a flat-response mic or one with an A-weighted response?

Whilst we're on the topic, here's something I've always wondered- the "frequency response" graphs you get for mics; are they weighted or non-weighted? Non-weighted would make sense, but, then again, it's a system designed by audio engineers, so I highly doubt sense was invovled in the process...

Thanks guys

Crazy! Usually a peice that was this popular will have online resources!

I would contact Klark Teknik and ask about a manual. You will most likely have to buy one from them, but usually, that isn't more than $30.

KT did make a mic specifically for their RTA. I have actually used the mic for recording purposes as well, and it was very neutral:D Since I don't have that KT anymore I can't check to see what the actual mic model was. It did look an awful lot like an Earthworks though (as many of them do).

hmm, i might see if I can find anything on the KT mic, I'll let everyone know if I dig anything up.
In the meantime I'll just "borrow" a calibrated mic from somewhere.
Thanks for the manual links, looks like it's foreign paper for me...

Heh, on my way to "borrow" a calibrated mic from a touring company, I actually ran across the KT mic, model number 6051...

So yeah, there you go.

That's the one, I was just looking at mine.

I have a 6000, the unit is calibrated to the serialized 6051 it came with. I assume the DN60 is calibrated to the mic that came with it, if the original owner bought the mic. For the best results, I'd set the DN60 to "uncalibrated" if it has that option, and use the response graph of the mic when you take readings (each 6150 should have it's own response graph). Take the response of the mic into account when you look at your measurements.
