hey,

there's a direct input on my dmp3, i used it to get my bass direct into my soundcard, but wounder if there is a big difference between this and using some real di box.

My bass has active pickups, and the bassist from a band i will record the weekend uses passive pickup, i'ld like to know if i'm better off renting a real di.

anyway
thanx

An active DI will give you more tone-shaping capabilities, which may or may not be useful depending on your situation.

The DMP is a real DI. It is also a preamp. The answer to your question will completely depend on what DI you compare the DMP3 to. Almost for sure, since your buddy's bass has passive pickups, an active DI like you have now in the DMP3 will sound better than most passives.

Will it sound better than a Behringer Ultra DI100? Yep. Anything will.

Will it sound better than a BSS AR133, or Klark, or Radial, or Hotbox, maybe.
