I think it sounds pretty good really. I don't hear an S problem at my end. I think with the way Jack sang, there will always be some pronounced S's, but it sounds decent to me man. (I don't think English is Jack's native language.). You seemed to have tamed some of the boom also. Put up some details if you can.Reggie said:OK, here is my attempt (hopefully this link werks): http://media.putfile.com/DarkLonely-ReggiesMaster
I hate excusatory prefaces more than anybody, but I will have to attribute any unniceties to the fact that I was trying to push this out in a short time period on the day I closed on my house and trying to the finish before my "movers" (family) arrived.I probably could have been a little more aggressive on the S's, but oh well....
If there is any interest, I will try to compile the changes I made to it tonight or something. There were sort of a lot, but mostly minor moves.

Dogman said:Ok, another run, mainly with just eq. I tried to get rid of teh boom in the bottom end, and may have gone too far.![]()

That's kind of embarassing, it was really just supposed to be a demonstration of relative volume levels when the EQ was brought more into line

Having said that, what about your comments on clients and volume? I guess I've not brave enough to turn back a quieter master![]()
masteringhouse said:IMHO, for this track I don't think it benefits from being "loud". I'm coming in around K-12/10. Any louder than that and the soundfield seems to collapse as well as losing some of the excitement.
mshilarious said:I have a v3 posted, that's final, but I wouldn't worry about it, listen to other people's submissions instead.
Isn't K-10 pretty loud? I believe my v2 was K-15 or 16.
masteringhouse said:According to my reading on Spectrafoo your second version is coming in around K-12

Reggie said:Tom, I would be interested in hearing your input on my version as well ^
I can email you the file or something if need to load it into something (instead of playing back in internet explorer). It looks like Putfile may not have a way to do a direct download![]()
I do remember the chain went something like....PLParEQ > GSSL stereo buss compressor (outboard) > more PLParEQ > yet another band or two of PLParEQ > UAD Pultec Pro > Spitfish > UAD Precision Limiter . I think. Yeah, a lot of EQing here.
And I'll put up some more specific settings later.

Maybe a picture will help, this a peak value from my last version:
