Hey guys,i was bored last night so i decided to take appart my RTR Pioneer rt-707(for search refferences :D )

The problems:
1)the left reel did not want to stop after FF,it would go hay wire and damage the tape.

2)The "tape source" button was making a lot of noise, and sometimes even mute one channel if touched .

3)i wanted to clean the faceplate :D ...all of it :p

So lets get started :)

Take off the front plate (screws are common cense here, take off the screws that connect things :D )

then open the top

as you see,its not very complicated if you just pay attention to the mechanics.

Now we will start with the brakes :)

going on, to more complicated issues. The ellectrical switches

its very easy to take these appart, but lets not get confused. We want minimum troubles,so we dont have to solder.

1)pull back the spring, and lift up the pin that holds the switch to the body.

2)now pull out the pin,and carefully remove the rod,and clean it

3)clean out the insides of the switch

Ok follow these steps on everyone of the switches,to ensure they are all nice and clean :) my q-tip was filthy, especialy when i cleaned the "tape source" switch...the one that had most problems.

Moving on to the face plate

i used "eagle one" aluminum polish because i had it in my garage :D if not ,i would have used "mothers" but who cares :p

Rub it with terry cloth,or whatever you can find that is soft, and wont scratch .It was a laundry day for me ,so i couldnt find any dirty towels :D

yes dirty

i cleaned the knobs while they were out,its easier like that, although after polishing them,i kept dropping them, because they were so smooth :D

Now reverse the take appart process, and you are finnished. :D

Honestly i didnt know that cleaning the switches would help so much, since i thought they were just old,but to my surprize they are like new now. not even a slight noize....perfect :)

Here is the last pic finnished. It took about 3 hours,i was taking my time, and enjoying this thing. It is awesome :D its built like a tank, and everything is so simple ....i love it :)

I hope you found this usefull :) ;)
