Distortion through spdf from Dat to TMD1000

Problem... I have some stereo master tracks on Dat I'm trying to port over to Gina
24 through my TMD 1000. Why not go direct you ask? Well that's because I currently
cannot control input levels with the drivers available for my Apple G4. Thus, I must go through
my mixer. The dat I use is a Sony PCM 300. What would be causing distortion though
the signal to my mixer. I cross referenced SPDF input from a SB live on my Pentium
to the TMD 1000 and there was no problem there. Therefore, I know it's not the inputs
necessarily unless the Sony DAT is incompatible. Does anyone understand the question I'm asking?
Yes, the sampling rates match from DAT to mixer...so what gives? No, the levels are not above the threshold.

It's me again new registraion

Ya know..I've tried Tascam with the same inquiry but to no avail. No one seems to know what causes this problem. I even tried contacting Guitar Center, spoke with a Pro Sound guy and he basically said he's heard about a similar problem when playing back a Sony DAT recording on a Tascam. It still did not answer my question. All well...

I had the same problem the other day. I was
going from CDR to DAW. sample rates match..
frequency..but the problem was the spdif time clock
..the units must be sync utilizing work clock

try slaving the TDM to the Dat..word clock is normally transferred thru spdif but it has to be set.

am I making sense?

Let me know how it goes!
