I need some micing tips for distorted guitar so it sounds clearer instead of muddy. Also can u playback track while recording others?
thnx

If the guitar sounds muddy, move the mic towards the edge of the cone. (the outside edge) Yes you can record and listen back, (rtfm)

you can try backing the mic away from the speaker slightly. are you using a pre-amp on the mic? you can tweak the input/output gain with that so there's no distortion. also - you'll probably want a pair of good headphones to listen to tracks while you're recording. otherwise, the mic will pick up the other tracks through your monitors (unless you're recording in a seperate room from monitoring).

rtfm?

Thnks, what is rtfm? How do u playback and record? We are using v 2.0

V 2.0 of Cool Edit Pro? If so, just go to your multi track view. You can arm each track for recording with the little red button next to the track labeled with an "R". Insert your recorded track into track 1. Be sure that track 1 isn't armed for recording or you will record over your track. Then arm track 2 to record. Press your record button and off you go. Track 1 will play as normal and track 2 will record.
