What are the disadvantages of the Oktava Mk - 012's over other similarily priced small diaphragms. My purpose in using them is stereo recording ensembles. Many thanks,

1 $99 Behringer Ultragain Pro MIC-2200 preamp fed UNBALANCED through Radio Shack quality cables into:
1994(?) first-generation Sony MD recorder with horrendous converters - unbalanced I/O.
And you can get the 012's from guitar center for 99 bucks, they were on sale a couple weeks ago for 75. And I hope this isn't the case but I can't get the link to work at the moment but it may be my cheap ass laptop and the fact I'm on dial up at the moment.
Read this thread - particularly Loeti's posts.treymonfauntre said:as i'm sure you know.. those aren't the real oktava mics that are currently $99. if he did that recording with brand new chinese oktavas then i will eat my words.
I've used 20 different Oktava MC012s and they all sounded really close to me. It's really hard for me to believe that their QC is as bad as some people make it out to be.Richard Monroe said:Well, Treymon, it would be more correct to say that the ones that sound good sound good. And *some* of them sound good.-Richie
