The chorus feels strange because of the drum pattern, imo. Maybe a straight half time feel would feel a little more natural. This is one of the heaviest guitar sounds I've ever fucking heard, and I can offer zero advice on how to make it better. Congratulations, I remember about three months ago you had a post in which you were asking about how to improve your guitar sound - I guess you're there, bro. I'll be bookmarking this thread for when I need to try something that sounds like this. Thanks.
Your lyrics just kill me. I have told people in the past when they have asked how they can improve their vocals to just find what they do best and stick to it. You are a great example of that. You deliver the song in an unmistakable Dogman way. Your enunciation is good, and it's not an overbearing cookie monster growl. In fact, it seems to be evolving into a pretty straight ahead spoken word delivery - if you can find the line between an affected growl and a phlegmatic wheezy whiskey rasp you'll have it nailed. It's not terrible, and if you continue to hone it, it will work for you very well. The way I hear it, delivery and word economy are everything. Leonard Cohen and Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan are still capable of raising the hair on the back of my neck with a spot-on delivery. I think Leonard Cohen's style in particular could be an interesting thing for you to study. Keep working at your craft, bro. You're getting results.
Casey, don't know what to say....Thanks man.
What advice do you have for the drums? It is programmed through midi, and I just made up something, and Metalhead28 helped me with some of the aspects of a drummer not being able to hit a snare, 2 Toms, and a cymbal......(I knew that, but never really thought about it...

). And don't tell anyone, but half the guitar tone is direct. I've been told that you can't get a good tone direct, but to me, my amp doesn't have a decent botton end, so all the bottom end is from a POD. High end is from an old Carvin 2X12, mic'd with an inexpensive Nady mic, but the distortion is still teh POD with the Big Bottom amp.
As far as vocals, I'm not sure what direction to take them in, but SnakeDog needed some vocals to see where his leads should be. I tried to make a more melodic, or complicated tune, but I couldn't get the pieces to fit, so I went for a straight up Verse/ Chorus song. I had many pages of lyrical ideas to play with, but ended up putting this together pretty quick, and then posting it for some help. I might not sing this in the final mix, but who knows....
Again, thanks dude, and I hope you like the final product. It should be interesting, and I am very glad to have not done all this myself. I think once SnakeDog puts some leads to it, and fills in some blanks, it will sound like a real song....
