directly from mic to harddrive

Is there a prize around here for "best thread ever" if not lets make one especially for this thread, pure genius, its the only one here that i keep checking up on to see whats been posted next...perhaps this is the birth of a new cult...wasnt david koresh a frustrated musician? In fact i think i have checked this thread more times than i have checked any thread that i have started or in fact any porn site or poker room....in fact i now live here...so if you dont mind, please do one!

Man, what the hell are you talking about? Thread has nothing to do with smooth, warm, silky tubiness. Thread is only used for sewing....it doesn't matter if you use the "best thread ever".
I once used thread to sew up some mic mittens because I wanted to "warm up" my sound....but I'm telling you, it just didn't work. This was before I figured out how to get a real tube sound. Don't waste your time with sewing.

This thread has really gotten me confused. I thought well nvm .... Somebody help me!!
 
mic to harddrive

If you have a mixer,
1.tie your computer into your system through the tape rec/mon jacks of the mixer,
2a. go directly into the aux in/out jacks of your computer, use a good multi-tracking software program,(I use proaudio 9)
or
2b. patch through a stereo eq, then the computer. your compression can be done digitally with software, or with a compressor/limiter patched in at the mixer.
This is better than just plugging a mic into the mic jack on your computer(it gives you more options, and better control of the sound that you record on your computer)
Sometimes you can find a cheap mic that can surprise you with it's sound, but I suggest, at the least, a SM58 for starters, and any decent cable will work fine.
Either with the mixer or a mic you're going to need adapters(ie; 1/4 inch to mini plug, or rca to mini plug), or you can try a usb mic.

I think you guys mis read the question... he wants to recording to memory not to disk... 64K aught to be enough...
 
Heh, I'd do a photo with some RAM, but I don't have any lying about, unlike hard drives... of which I've got millions...
