Is it possible to hear a plugin directly, instead of recording a track and then put the plugin over the track?? Im running on a ESI WaveTerminal 192M and i have done a lot of things but nothing seems to work? Anybody help me out, maybe there a some setting wrong, im running on ASIO 2.0

Some instrument plugs yes, but how could you ever hear a compressor without a signal? Or a reverb? Get my drift?

i get your drift, but when i want to hear some plugs directly (insert?) nothing happens?? Also with Native Instruments Guitar Rig, i wanna hear this one directly but nothing happens to my signal. I only hear the signal as it originally comes in, dry guitar signal......
Am i doing something wrong here?
Also with reverb plugs, notrhing seems to happen.

I use Nuendo among other programs, and to hear the result of an effect in real-time without recording it ......
Setup an Audio track and arm it for record and turn on monitoring.
Put whatever effect/effects I want to hear in an Insert.
It's kinda cool ... I'll have a few mics hooked up to their own tracks and load up Drumagog in the inserts and tap on the mics with my fingers and viola .... Drums play.
I've never used VST2.0 so I can't tell you exactly how it would be set up, but it seems as though you should be able to do the same thing if it allows you to set up a blank audio track, arm it to record and turn on monitoring for that track. My be called direct monitoring ... or live monitoring ... or live input processing ... or something to that effect.
