Hy guys!

I have a (stupid) questions about using digital mixer as a preamp while recording. I just got yamaha 01v digital mixer which I was going to use as a preamp (and compressor) when recording vocals. Which output I should use in a mixer order to get the sound into audio interface.. Can I use the monitor output??? There is no own outputs for each channels. I suppose I don't need the digital I/O expansion, because I don't want to control recording softwares or the audio interface mixer software with yamaha mixer. I only need it as a preamp for recording vocals..or even more I want to use compressor of the digital mixer.

Thanks alot!

Many mixers have 4 or 8 groups (where you will group several tracks) with seperate outputs, but yours doesn't by the looks of it.

You can use the insert send on each individual channel :)

So you have another interface? If all you want to use it for is your vox chain, then run your mic into the yamaha, apply whatever fx you want, and run the master or monitor outputs into your other interface. Set the volume on your yamaha and the input gain on your other interface and you're good to go.
