Can a Behringer DDX3216 (or any digital mixing console) be used for PC recording, or is it only designed for ADAT and TASCAM type digital recorders? I am interested because it has pre-amps and phantom power (right?), and seems like it could save me a little bit of money if I were recording 8 mics at once (not having to own 8 pre-amps and some sort of phantom power supply). I assume I would still need something like a Delta 1010 to interface the mixer to the PC? Could I also use the DDX3216 for hands on mixing, and will the automation be compatible with recording software? Or is it just silly of me to want to use it in this way? I just really like the idea of having faders in front of me, instead of just using a mouse (call me crazy!) Also, after searching this forum for "Behringer", and "DDX3216", I can see that a lot of people like to bash Behringer, so please, if all you want to say is "Behringer sucks!", please also tell me why you think this particular console sucks, and offer suggestions as to what you would use to accomplish what I'm trying to.
