digidesign hardware not connected error, even though it is..

hey everybody..

i am running protools 7.4 on a mac os x.

i am using an mbox..

i keep having this problem, and i do not know what to do. it works certian times, and certain times it doesnt. does anybody have an idea to make this work?
 
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers? Also if it is usb try a different usb port.
 
This happens to me a lot too (USB minibox). All I do is reboot and it connects. Also I get an error message...something about the internal clock which I've found means I have another program open that in line before PT for the use of the soundcard. The reboot works for this as well. It's a little frustrating but on the scale of computer problems not that big a deal.

Here's my big gripe....I can't listen to mp3's with Window's MediaPlayer online because Internet Explorer is using the soundcard. I have another soundcard installed but I disabled it because wave mapper wasn't picking up the minibox in the drop down menu options for some programs. I'd sure like a work around for that one.

Yeah, I forgot about that one, had similiar problems with mine until I switched my mouse into the hub and gave my mobile pre its own port, no problems since. Of course he'll prolly never reply and we'll sit here wondering for the rest of our lives if he figured it out:rolleyes:

Umm, I think you may of misunderstood me, because what I was talking about is incredibly simple. I had my interface plugged into a usb hub, and was having problems so in order to alleviate said problems I:
Unlplugged interface from hub. Unplugged wireless reciever for mouse from a different usb port, a single port--no hub. Then I plugged interface into the port where the mouse was, and then plugged mouse into the hub that the interface was in.

I've got everything in a separate port then and these errors occur...?

IDK man, it seemed to clear my problems up, unless they just stemmed from a bad port, I've heard that some ports on pcs can be better than others. The only other thing I can think of is to try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers.

Try removing every USB device except the Mbox.

Do the problems still happen?

The only other device that is always "on" is my wireless adapter for internet. This could be the cluprit. I constantly have drops with my wireless setup but I had assumed that was a router issue. My printer is plugged in but most of the time off unless I'm using it.
 
Like I said, remove it. Don't just disable it.

It's a bad idea to have non essential USB devices connected anyway.

I've seen Pro Tools fail to launch due to a USB drive being connected, even though it wasn't being used.

Does that solve the problem?

I'll have to do some juggling and it will take some time to see if it works but I'll report back when I know something for sure.

is it a real mac??

I've seen issues on osx where digidesign hardware won't be recognised by protools if it has recently been used with coreaudio manager...

check your activity monitor and kill the coreaudio service, if you think this is applicable.
