Hey guys, I'm having issues. I posted this in the rack forum, but I probably should have posted it here. I just got my hands on a Digi 001, but the software is for the Mac. I went to Digidesign's web site and downloaded the ASIO drivers and installed them and they do not work. Their site AND their documentation say that I can use these ASIO drivers for full duplex recording and playback up to 18 channels with the S/PDIF crap WITHOUT having to install ProTools LE, but I didn't get anything out of it. So, I went and downloaded the WAV drivers and all I get now is 2 outs and no ins. Does anyone have any suggestions of what I'm doing wrong? Oh... I got it from my company, so there's no way I can exchange it anywhere for the PC software version.

The ASIO drivers do not work with what? You have to have a program to use them with that supports ASIO, and to use all the ins and outs, you have to have a program that supports multichannel ASIO. They work with every program I've tried (Cubase, Samplitude, FruityLoops, Sonar).

You can buy an upgrade to Pro Tools LE 6.1 (the latest version) for both PC and Mac for $75 from Digi or from your local Digidesign dealer (Guitar Center, etc.) You don't need to have any older software or serial numbers for the upgrade.

My bad. I use Sonic Foundry mostly, so ASIO should be supported by both acid 4 and vegas 4. They are listed as compatible programs on the digidesign site and in the docs that came with the driver. I install the drivers as per the how-tos (not that it's complicated or anything), and restart the computer just for good measure and I don't have any ins and only 2 outs given to me by the WAV drivers. It's not listed in the "Recording Devices" by Windows.

There is a specific procedure for installing the AISO drivers for your digi001... You have to follow it to the letter... step by step... or it will not work right...

do some searching on the digi site and download the pdf with the procedure...

I have a friend that runs Vegas 4 with Digi with AISO and it works flawlessly... he had trouble when first installing the drivers... then did it by the letter and it works great now

I couldn't get them to show up in Soundforge either. It might be a Sonif Foundry issue, I think SF/Acid might not install ASIO support unless a driver is already there... just a guess...

That's a good thought. I didn't think about that. I'll try tonight and see if it makes any difference. Even then though, should the device come up as a valid recording device unser the Windows Multimedia properties?

I un-installed and reinstalled Acid and found one big thing. I need to go into Acid's preferences and change the recording device. DUH! I'm not at the house though, I did all of it through a VNC session. Once I get to the house, I can record something and see if it works. But for now, it's showing up in the record devices. :D
