Hi there. I just received my new Presonus FireWire Studio Mobile today. I am Recording using a Condenser Mic (The Shure PG81) plugging into the mic preamp at the front of the interface and onto Cubase 5 recording at 24 bit/48khz. While I was testing out the recording I was occasionally getting the noise that you will hear in the demo that starts at 19 seconds on my test file and ends at 23 seconds. I thought maybe it somebody in my house's cell phone receiving a text message or something and the mic was picking it up but It became more frequent and now I'm hearing it sporadically. I don't know why it starts. So far to troubleshoot I have determined it's not the actual Shure PG81 mic because it does it on my SM57 as well. I have tried 2 different XLR cables (they're not high end, they cost me around £15 each) and it still happens. Any ideas what sort of noise this is and what it can be? If I mute the mic and just monitor the Preamp noise with the gain set high I can't hear it so it's definitely coming from the mics but why I don't know. Any help really appreciated thanks.

Btw, the audio file is here

I've heard that same sound when listening to CDs (usually in my truck, but sometimes on the computer) but never heard it recorded.

That's the sound of cell phone interference, probably when one periodically "checks in" with the cell tower. It happens when the phone is transmitting, not when it's receiving. If your phone is the closest one it's probably the culprit.

Hey thanks for the replys. I thought so too. It must be my sister's phone downstairs. I turned my phone off just in case. Can a cell phone downstairs still cause that sort of interference? I think she's went to bed now so I'd assume she's switched off the phone. I'll try again and see if I get the same problem. Thanks for the suggestion!
