Yeah, you asked the right first question. I just happened to have already gone through these issues previously and figured I'd save you some stress.

LE4 will definitely give you the chance to see if Cubase is the software for you. Depending on your needs, the limited version my be all you'll want. Newer versions have more features and are more stable tho more expensive. With any luck, maybe your Zoom will have LE5 with it now. Happened to me and it's much better.

I think I remember you are already experimenting with Reaper. Good call. Daw's are like food, not everyone likes sushi or can handle spicy stuff. Some can live on it. It's really just personal taste. Either way, you will still make a poop. :)

Good luck and let me know if you have any Cubase questions.

great to know your the cubase guru :-)
i have watched serveral (many) vids on youtube about time stretching and how to keep everything in tempo which is very cool...but damn every menu has a submenu which has a submenu which feature has like 20 options :-)

i rather have the full package thn the LE version i guess... i want to be able to do everything :-) mix record master the whole nine yards.
can it export to mp3? hahaha.
as I have read every wehere the zoom autom makes a connection to cubase so you don't have to setup anything, im not sure if thats only with this version or if this is driver related.
but it would be great if that would work with Cubase 5 or 4 too.

i'm gonna have so much fun with it, and wasiting a shitload of time of figuring everything out, but once i get there... WOW! (well i hope).
i like the interface of cubase muich better than reaper, from what i saw...it looks user friendly although there is so many options, still everything seems logical... but that's only from looking at the youtube vids where all the cubase guru's are at

I wouldn't go as far as guru. lol. I have a solid, working knowledge of Cubase. I still learn everyday.

It will definitely work with 4, 5, or 6. I am not so sure about automatic though. Not hard maybe. I'll help if you have any issues. Full versions include the MP3 encoder. I think it's a $15 download for LE, studio, elements etc....

You sound like a 5 year old at Christmas time! Very inspiring. Keep that motivation man! :D

lol and than knowing i'm 35 hahaha...well this zoom will be like a alittle drream come through...
if i would be bill gates (or a little les) i would have build a real damn studio. but now i will have my own little studio at home.

i have recorded through several methods.

tascam 4/8track cassete thingy
line in audicity.
boss micro br (still use it for rehearsals)
and than now the zoom...
and i want to know how it works.... i love our music and i want it to be recorded more than just rehearsal quality i hope with this effort (in time and money) i'll be albe to do so in a couple of month's hours, seconds minutes...

The full version will smack LE in the face and then defaecate on it's shoes. lol

But your upgrade path should be to cubase 6 since it's the current full version. Stienberg is now handling them directly on their site.

LOL! But in a non-stinky, good poop kind of way. He at least got the LE5 with the Zoom (PM).

To OP; ^This guy is the Guru here^. I learn from him often. Send him cash money. :D

wat are the differences between le n reg 4 i got le 4 is that holdin me back...what would a up graded version really do??? maybe a stupid queastion

Look at the comparison chart I posted link to in #2 post on this thread for LE4 to a full version of Cubase 4. The difference between Cubase 4 (yours is a limited version of that) and Cubase 6, is 6 years of software development that has resulted in a DAW that brings everything you ever wanted to accomplish together in peaceful harmony. lol. Cubase 6 is the most stable version of the software and has way more control of audio and midi than ever before. When it comes to editing, it is a complete dream. Comparing the LE4 to 6 is like eating random bugs to fine sushi. Or freshly slaughtered steak. Or late spring broccoli if you are vegetarian. Or really yummy bugs, if that is your thing...

Some people are just fine with LE4. When you get to where you feel limited, move forward to a newer version. It is worth it. :D

I sound like a sales rep now huh?.....Sorry, I'm a Cubase junky.

lol yeah ya do.... right i dont know if it da program or not theres alot i still dont know on le ..i mostly download a beat from soundclick so prob already mixed then i do my vocals,adlibs,choras,ect... then put a lil eg reverb n compress on vocals but i can never get it soundin perfect or at least how i want it ...im not tryin to sell it but at least sound respectable... and im not sure if any upgraded program can help or i just need to get better at mixing... idk this shit just takin to long i got my newest song recorded n been tryin to mix it for 2 weeks..when i get time...so idk if new program can really help that or not

Well let's have a play at it then. Send me the project folder for one of your songs, and I'll see what I can do with it. Sounds like an interesting venture. :D

lmao were u want me to send it? n what is project folder ? what i open cubase with.. n u want it how i have it or u want everything raw? thx alot if u can help me

A project folder is where you save your project. When you open Cubase and you see the recent projects list, the project folder location will be listed. You will need to send the whole folder, not just the .cpr file. I am not sure if there was a 'Backup Project' option in LE4. That would be the easiest way.

Ok, this could get difficult now. I'm going to PM you with a location to send the file. :)

lol k ya all i see is cpr thats what i thought u were talkin about...k let me know what i need to do

well i just got into cubase 5 LE, and damn it's a smooth program..everything works so well....sigh i should have see this years ago :-)

Truthfully, while there are many MANY more features in the full version the LE version is a great version of cubase and is totally usable as a recording program.
