how do their sounds differ? i know their internal differences pretty much, but how do the actual output sounds differ?

thanks

Condensors are more sensitive and brighter then dynamic mikes. Condensors are most sensitive to humidity, loud muisc and being droped.

thanks...

so basically you'd use condensors to pick up more subtle sounds, and not shove them in front of a blasted stack?

thanks

Condensor mics excell on acoustic sources like acoustic guitars, voice, drum overheads, etc because they're so much more accurate. Unlike a dynamic type microphones that have to deal with the greater mass of moving a coil that's attached to the diaphram, they can react to subtle changes in sound preasure much more quikly, being a capacitor. Not to say they don't work well on other stuff, I use condensors on guitar cabinets, bass cabinets and kick drums all the time and work very well in that application.
