Wtf is a PRS
While tracking something your making serious progress with, crumb up, and the mistake sounded so awesome you went and re-recorded it with other instrumentation and it turns out to be one of your finer moments as a song writer.....

I did.

Totally made my week and i am debating on leaving work to go home to work on it i am so stoked on it.

This is a mistake i am thankful to have made.

Then agian i was also tired. I may go home today and listen to it and just pull a 'WTF'

Well, all I can say is ..... keep on making mistakes! ;)

Ha, actually yes that's happened to me. And again in mixing, I went to change the EQ I had on my snare track but accidently clicked the kick drum's track. When I moved a big chunk in the upper mids the bass drum sound came out and gave me a huge facial and I loved it. "Whoa!" Haha, I left work numerous times "sick."

Gosh, yeah, frequently !
When I used to jam (it was a great way of coming up with sections that went into or became whole songs) and I was learning bass, if I dropped a bum note, I'd repeat the run so it sounded deliberate ! And it's happened while tracking and sometimes I've just stopped and said 'let's start again' but other times the error sounded wicked !
Sometimes when tracking with guitar and drums or percussion, a mistake sounds so glaring but when you put some bass in there, it sounds like some seriously clever time signature trickery and fabulous interplay !

By the way Atom, how's the concept album coming along ?

It is coming slowly. The music is pushing forward nicely at the pace i want it too, but little of it conveys the emotion behind the character and my logic behind it. but, it is coming. I'm still plugging away at it...

My notes are getting thrown together when i have a chance on the lyrics side of things.

I'm not going to say its going nowhere fast but it's definitely going slower then i had anticipated due to my 'day job' environment.

thanks for asking.

Day jobs suck... except they do provide mucho $ to waste on gear you don't really need, but looks good.

If you're doing a concept album, remember, "Olias of Sunhillow" has already been taken as a title.... you're gutted, I know... :D

mistakes can be cool...

you can if nothing else learn from them, and try to eliminate/cut down on repeating one, once experienced...

here and there, dont we all make a "mistake" and then hear it, and it gives us an idea, or even turns into something cool?

I think my favorite was I was once writing a piano based thing, and it was mainly all "note melodies". Well, when I lengthened onr track, I had forgotten to make room by scooting everything else over that added length... and the end of the one track "over ran" the beginning of the next track... since the one was in I chord, and the other in IV chord, they had a decent harmonic relationship... I was sort of pleasantly surprised with a sudden cascade of partial chords, rapid firing off both on and off the metrically accented beats intended... it was 2/3rds of majors, minors, diminished... went back and experimented with how much "over run" seemed best, and deliberately did it several times as I changed chord back and forth...

but the majority of my "oopsies" were not nearly as productive, lol... hey, usually a bank or account "error" is you have LESS than you SHOULD have... but every ONCE in a while, you end up with more than you should... *shrugs* enjoy it and pretend you meant it like that and keep a straight face, eh?

a win by any means, even if by accident, is still a win... good show, old sod...
