ok i am just getting started with recording. i have an old program for my computer and i am getting a USB audio interface to make it all work. i am going to be recording drums guitar and possibly some vocals. i dont know wether or not i will need a DI box because of the interface. here are the specs about the interface-MobilePre USB is the perfect audio interface and preamp for your laptop recording needs. A total of three kinds of audio inputs and outputs provide maximum flexibility for any application including two on-board microphone/instrument preamps and high-impedance instrument inputs ideal for connecting guitars and basses. From what i have seen on a picture of it i saw 2 XLR inputs so i guess there must be a 1/4" input as well somewhere. I believe that i would not need to DI box if a preamp is built into the interface but im double checking. thanks

Nope, no DI needed, there's a 1/4" instrument input right on the front, and another in the back next to the XLR's.

EDIT: Readin' the replies, it looks like it has some killer latency issues unless you have a faster computer. Just something to think about.
