I'm pretty sure the 002R has a high impedance input. Just use that.

10 Mohm > 100 Kohm, so you should still be ok. Here's a pretty good article on impedance from the Whirlwind site: http://www.whirlwindusa.com/tech03.html

The take home message is you want to have the impedance of your receiving device (002R) higher than that of the sending device (your guitar pickups).

inputs 1-4 are for high impedence inputs....ie. guitars
they are labeled as "Line/Inst" on the front of the 002 ("Inst" stands for Instrument which basically means "instruments with high impedence")

Cheers guys, thats cleared that up.

Next question then.

So I guess I shouldn't plug in any line level stuff to 1-4?

Dave

I run line level signals into them all the time. Works fine.

line level is accepted on any of the 8 inputs.
however, if i'm not mistaken last time i checked, inputs 1-4 will still pass through the amplifier circuit in the 002. It's nice to have an extra control on the front of the 002 for setting your line levels, but many purists out there prefer not to aquire any extra noise from the amplifiers before going into the computer.

Not sure how it's wired up. The 002R has line/mic pushbuttons on the front face for the 4 preamp channels. I'd thought that with the "line" button engaged you'd bypass the preamp.

Probably right. I'll never understand why designers do this. My old Korg D1600 was the same way. Oh well, sounds fine to me.
