Rami is the exact type of person this place needs. He makes really good recordings using basic home-recording equipment in regular home-recording rooms. He's not a clueless idiot n00b regurgitating info he reads elsewhere, and he's not some idiot wannabe pro throwing money and gear at basic recording problems. He's a talented dude recording successfully using regular every-man's gear and techniques in average rooms. He is what this place is (was) all about, and the rampant suckage in here lately seems to have run him off. That's sad.

I'm trying to get there. Can't believe how much help a handful of people here have been to my mixes...throwing some money at it didn't hurt either :). Had to have some decent treatment in my room before anything was going to happen. New piano, new monitors, new interface, new cans. Suddenly it's a lot easier to hear what's going on in the mixes. Now I've just got to refine and practice the techniques (and musicianship) that'll tighten it all up! :D
Funny, I'm just a songwriter, so when I started on this website, I just wanted to get my songs "good enough" for people in the genre to give them a listen. Never had ANY clue how addictive this hobby can be, or how far "good enough" would take me. But it's all for the love of the craft! Not going to go back.

This is so true of many people, myself included. When we first start, we set the bar so low for ourselves because we don't know what we are capable of doing in a home studio. Then you listen to one of Rami's songs and see what he uses for equipment and you realize just how much potential there is. Suddenly, it's not a matter of "I just want to hear my ideas in a song", but rather, "I think I can put out a pretty decent product that can sound as good or better than any crap on the radio."

Thanks to Rami for the inspiration....
(I hate you, man)
