I tried the 1010 and did side-by-side with the Aardvark Q10. The Q10 whipped the 1010's ass. Aardvarks A-WDM drivers are FAR tighter and faster. I regularly run numerous DXi's, 24+ trcks of analog, and 4 and 5 plug ins at 2ms latency setting for Sonar 2XL and have no probs. Also, the Q10 has 8 decent mic pre's, a very simple interface router, and covers just about any I/O option you could want.
BTW, ignore the BS on the aardvark site about them recommending against using MOBO's with VIA chipsets, that is crap. Works great, and the guy from Aardvark who emailed me about it said he uses VIA himself, lol.
System:
XP1700+ CPU
ABIT KR7A-RAID MOBO
Dual Maxtor ATA133 40GB HDD's (1 dedicated audio)
512 Mushkin 2-2-2 pro, single stick (avoid using multiple sticks to build memory when possible--memory timing can be funky)
All i can say is, if you are feeling weird about your interface, go Aardvark.
Also note, the Q10 uses the Aardvark clock mechanism, the thing that they are mostly respected for worldwide. If you use the wordclock I/O to time all yer gear, the shit is HOT! Tight as hell and the clarity difference is a shocker.
