Okay, my latest obsession is getting a new soundcard. I think I want to go for the M-Audio Omni Studio package with the Delta 66. Does anyone know if you can stack Delta 66's.....like can I buy another one down the line to double my ins/outs?

I like it because in the short run it means I don't have to buy a new mixer, it has inserts and flexible routing to do what I need to do. The only other way I can get flexible routing like this and more inputs is (due to financial limitations) is with a new mixer like a Mackie 1202 VLZ Pro + Delta 66 (which will cost considerably more I think)...

or...

Aardvark Direct Pro 2496, which can be stacked, but has no inserts so i have to buy a mixer with inserts (or is there another way?)

or

Aardvark Q10....which sure ain't cheap, but it seems powerful and has inserts

or ... or...

basically looking for the most cost-effective way to get 4 or more ins, decent pres, and inserts to run a compressor as all I have right now is an Audiophile 2496 card and Behringer 602A mixer, but want flexibility to get more than 4 ins some time in the future....damn I hate these decisions!!!

Yes, I'm attaching the control panel below.

Notice how on the right side there are different numbers? Those are all of the different cards you can have, and you switch between then my changing the radio box. Works pretty nicely. As you can see, I have a 1010. It shows 66 or 44 or whatever else you have hooked up.

I'd say keep the audiophile and add the omni, then you'll have four pres (Audiophile has 2, right) as well as the rest of the ins (I'm not sure on the count).

but do the soundcards work at the same time or do you only get to switch back and forth between the two (or more). Say I have the Audiophile 2496 and the Omni Studio with the Delta 66, will I have the option in Sonar of having one track use the Audiophile Left-in, another with the Audiophile Right, another with Delta 1, another with Delta 2 etc......

this is the dilemma

You know, I don't really know. I'd assume they all can work at the same time.

Yes, they will work at the same time. You may need to use the ASIO drivers for it to work properly, but your software should allow you to choose any of the available inputs.

hmmmm.... this gets very tempting now. I guess I will have to just bite the bullet and see how it all works. Thanks for the tip on ASIO drivers.
