Delta 44 conflict with other apps?

I'm pretty sure that im going to be buying a Delta 44 or an audiophile 24/96... I only have one question...

Would the new sound card become my computers primary soundcard... i.e. would it work with all my existing apps and games? Or would the soundblaster cover that? Also if I had to keep both cards in, would it cause any driver conflicts?

I'm using Xp home on a P4 1.3ghz 256mb ram 80gb hardrive......

Its your choice on what soundcard you want to be the primary. Its recommended you go with the Delta but you can switch back and forth as you like. The Delta does work with all apps/games and there shouldn't be any driver conflicts but if there happens to be, there's probably some way around it and you can just come back here for support.
 
I use an audiophile 2496 and some no name PCI sound card. You set the default sound card in control panel....in sounds and audio devices.....I set my no name to be the default and in my recording sofware i set my audiophile as the only recorder/playback...

The audiophile actually gave me alot of problems as a system soundcard when i was using win98, but worked much better in XP, so your YMMV. I like the separation so i just use the 2496 for multitrack stuff
 
If i used a delta 44 card for games and everything, wouldn't it be hard to plug in my computer speakers as well? I think i'd need a soundblaster card for midi and for my comptuer speakers (4.1).
 
using the delta 44 as the default system card with other things may cause conflict cuz i know my delta 66 doesn't like sharing drivers
 
I would not use the Delta for other than audio progs. Games prefer a card with hardware directX and the delta range are all managed by the driver and do not support all the audio formats used by games. When you install the new card, it will take over. All you need do is open Control Panel/sounds-multimedia and reselect the creative card as the playback and midi device.
There is a possibility that the Creative taskbar icon/mixer will not like sharing the taskbar with the m-audio one but you can cross that bridge when you come to it.
Your music apps will allow you to select any of the cards, independant of whichever is the Windows default one but games will use the one selected in control panel.

Let the soundblaster be your default card and only enable the Delta in your DAW software. Thats what I do when working with Cakewalk Home Studio 2002. Other programs usually let you select your audio card independantly of what Windows uses as its primary card (Winamp for one)

Hey, I bought my soundcard! I bought an Audiophile Dio 24/96 instead because I found a very good deal on eBay. New, in the pacakging for only $75! :D :D So I'm assuming that all you've said for the Delta will aply for my new sound card right?

Yes. All PCI M-Audio audio cards are considered to be part of the Delta family.
