Hey Everyone I Am New To Midi So Excuse The Dumb Questions.
I Have A Edirol Controller Hooked To My Pc Via Usb, When I Am Trying To Record Midi Events My Sound Is Delayed, When I Strike A Note On The Controller There Is A Delay In My Speakers, Can Anyone Help Me? I Am Running Cakewalk Home Studio. Thanks

Trying to play softsynths in real time requires WDM or ASIO drivers and a modern operating system. What are you running on your PC? What kind of soundcard do you have? Why do you write sentences as if they are titles?

I am running XP Home Edition. Where Can I Get These Drivers? Thanks

The drivers either come on the Windows install disk if the sound device has been around long enough, or from the manufacturer of the sounds device. You still didn't tell us what your sound device is.

And trust me, writing everything like it's a title is almost as annoying as writing in all caps... maybe more so...

Hey is this an english lesson or a midi forum? ha! ha!
My sound card is intergraded in my motherboard I don't know what kind it is.
Maybe thats my problem.

hope my sentences suited you!
Thanks for your help

Yeah, if it's an integrated chip possibly it doesn't have WDM or ASIO drivers available for it.

Check Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager and click on the Sound, video, and game controllers node. See what the name of the audio driver is. Look at the driver details page and see if any of the driver files have wdm or asio in the name.

Thanks for your help, A new sound card fixed the problem!
