New Songs - Death Metal Maybe I don't know kinda ....?

Well I am back to post my first attempt at recording a "Metal" band. This band was together for 4 months prior to recording, and 10 songs were done in a matter of a few day. I really have had no time to attempt to mix this to its fullest potential, and this was thrown together in about 30 minutes. Any advice is welcome.

Thanks goes to NL5 for hosting.
Also the song starts off with a clip that some of the frequent people that hang around the MP3 forum might recgonize :)

Well hear are two more songs. I picked these becase I don't think they hold up as good as the first and am looking for advice on cleaning them up. Also, I once again mixed these in about 20 mins. I used a template from the first song and plug these new ones in. Maybe this weekend when I am not busy with school or work I will sit down and do these the correct way.
This song was wrote on the first day they ever played together

This at about 2 months of jamming

Thanks again for the listen.....

I'm glad you posted this. I listened to it, but didn't know who's it was.

I'm not a big fan "Death Metal" myself, but I really like the verse guitar parts (atleast I think it's the verse - lol) The slower grinding guitars........

HaHa....I guess that would be consider the verse

Anyways

Thanks for the hosting info, and taking a listen.

WoW! I can actually see Satan crawling out of my monitors, dripping in the blood of the innocent. Ha.
Good job on the mix.

Sounds great for a quick mix. :)

My only complaint are the toms and kick sitting so far back in the mix. Death metal drums are all about punching you in the face with the kick and snare, then kicking you in the stomach with the toms. ;)

What kind of system are you listening to it on? Reason why I ask is because most people have been saying I mixed it kick heavy and not enough snare. The toms are something I noticed, and I am going to try to bring them up more.

Thanks for the comments.

Thanks W.I.S.C.

Please let me know what you think needs improvement as far as the mix is concerned. My ears are kind of jaded towards this song and the other nine we did because I have listened to them so much. On top of that I am still pretty new to this whole recording thing and have lots to learn.

As far as new songs go, I will post one first thing tomorrow if not tonight and PM you to let you know.

Funny you mention the singer and the actual performance of the band. The singer never even though about singing or tried singing until 4 months prior to this recording. As far as the band goes, although the people in the band have been playing for a number of years, the band itself has only been playing with each other for 4 months.

Thanks again….

Hahahaha I love the intro. That Asian guy with the Creative MIDI keyboard is my hero. Pretty good mix, pretty good band. Who are these guys? Give the kick just a little more click and more snare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I like it. Reminds me of 7th grade (not in a bad way, just when I listened to stuff other than goregrind). Good job.

Ha....Its about time someone noticed that.

Thanks for the advice on the snare and click. I am starting to notice the snare is a little low.

As of now the band is going by the name of Cripple Ewe. It started off as somewhat of a joke but now there going to try and make it serious. They are also in the process of asking a stud of a bass player to join in because the one they have now is awful.

this is good stuff dude.

Thank you

I can not believe the positive feedback I am getting.

Did you hear anything that stands out and needs to be fixed?

If you want something big that could be changed, they should get the speed about double what it is and add some major double bass and double time ride hits along with snare roll blast beats (think Origin's Lethal Manipulation (
)) but aside from the actual song, this is a pretty solid mix. Just take the compliments like a man!

Hey thanks for the comments.....

Trust me I am always open for comments even if they are negative.....

I just listened to that link. It is amazing how much talent is found in the death metal scene. That kind of stuff takes years to develop.

Another intresting side note. The Drummer has been playing funk his whole life up until 4-5 months ago. Metal drumming is new to him but I think he is doing a great job.

Thanks again.....

I haven't bought any death/black metal to speak of in... shit.... probably a year.

I would buy this.

Makes me wanna go home and abuse my vocal chords... just like the good ol' days...

Good stuff, I'm still on the first song...

I won't pretend to be able to offer mix advice on the last two, but I like the songs. Maybe bring the guitars up/vocals down?

Thanks alot for the listen and complements....

You make a good point about the guitars and vocals. I was having troubles makeing them balance out. For some reason I could not get the guitar to be as clear as I wanted.

Thanks again
