O.k. Deep breath.......
Drums
The kit was a decent set Tama drums, very good Sabian Cymbals, and I believe a Chad Smith signature snare.
Snare Top- SM57 -> Grace Model 101 pre
Snare Bottom- SM57 -> Mackie Board
Kick -> B52 -> Mackie Board (kick was replaced via Drumagog with a sample from DrumKit From Hell 1)
Toms -> Crappy PG52 -> Mackie Board
OH's -> Crappy PG81's -> DMP3
Bass
The bass was a MusicMan StingRay DI'ed into the Grace Model 101. The original bass player was the one who tracked these songs. With out sounding to harsh he kind of sucked. There was no attack or control in his playing at all. We are thinking of dumping these tracks and having the new bass player come in for a marathon session in the next day or two. By the way the Model 101 is a great DI.
Guitar
My guitar was handled like this
Ltd Viper 400 (Emg 81's) into JCM 2000 (DSL 1OO)/1960s cab into SM57 into Grace Model 101 Pre - Everything was Doubled
For the other Guitar player
Everything was the same except the guitar itself. He used a 79 Strat which had a Seymour Duncan Hot-Rail in it. Which I hated to know end but he had to use "his" guitar.
When mixing it was so obvious that we made the wrong choice using the Strat. With both guitars up, at the same volume and soloed, my guitar (Viper) appears to be louder which is do to the EMG 81's cutting through a hundred times better.
Vox
We had built a make shift booth under the stairs at are practice sight. It consisted of a whole bunch of moving blankets on the walls, floor and ceiling. We used a pop filter over a KSM27 into the Grace Model 101. Everything was set flat on the mic going in.
