Great job dude. Great vocal performance, good job on the mix. I agree with Greg, the drums are a little clicky and lack some body. Other than that, its a good mix.

Thanks FTM! Maybe I'll just see if I can get them sounding right and then it'll be OK.;)

I don't know many metal albums where the drummer wasn't running along the lines of..." oh, octbans - I can show you octobans and here's the gong and while I'm at it have your heard my new...".
metal drum tracks are as much show'n'tell as providing a solid base - perhaps even more so.
I didn't mind the drums at all Joe but as I know precious little about the art of skins I can't claim an authorative basis.
The song is fine but isn't more than the sum of its parts I think. The performances, captures and arrangements are really hot.

Haha, yes I've played with those kind of drummers.....and in rehearsals they always start soloing in between songs....AAAAARRRRGH!
Thanx for the comments Ray.:D

What I was trying to say in my schitzo way is that I don't think the drums needed fixing at all. 'EZ' was a joke, I knew they were better than that :). Ditto Gerry's comment. :)
Hehe...I know, i know....:D
I love real drummers....honestly.......:drunk:

OK, here's a new mix (also inserted in the first post). I played around with the drum sound a bit, don't know if it's necassarily better. I tried to take Greg's suggestion and make them fuller, pulled back the compression a bit and EQ'd kick and snare again.

Hmm... Not sure if you changed the actual drum patterns, but for some reason, this time around, the drums seemed a bit less busy. The drum sound, I thought, sounded just fine. Might be my earbuds, but the guitars / vocals seemed a bit harsh in the 2-3K range, but I can't trust these buds... I'll give it a listen tonight on my monitors.

duplicate post... No idea what's going on with my browser. Sorry 'bout this.

I agree with PI. The guitars are a little harsh in the upper mids. Vocals seem fine to me. The snare and toms sound better. Work on humanizing the snare a little more. I'm losing the kick most of the time though.

I don't remember hearing this one before, but I gotta say...again...you gots great comp and arranging instincts. Love the modulation after the intro; the change in texture from verse to chorus; the progression in the bridge. Very good.

Thanx guys!
Funny thing is, I didn't touch anything other than the drums, so I don't know what happened to the guitar sound...
I downed some of the highs on the kick so I think the bass is messing with it a bit. I didn't do anything to the drum pattern though. I'll see what I can do to humanize it more.

I find it important to always give dynamic texture to a song, I believe it should capture a listener's attention.

Listening as I type......

I think it sounds better. Drums have better presence. Guitars seem smoother.

I don't know how drum samples work, but don't they come from the factory pretty much sounding "perfect"? Is adding additional compression even really necessary? It seems to me that if they come processed, you might wana tread very lightly on adding more. I don't know though. Just guessing.

Sounds great joey - punchy and full. I listened to v2 first, not realising there was a v3 and that had a weird click on 0.53 - seems to have been sorted now though. Nice work!

You happen to know which factory they came from....except for the kick.;)
This sounds better because i pulled the comp off a bit more. It is necessary sometimes depending on how the other instruments sound. And no, they might sound good coming from the factory, but I wouldn't say perfect. Thanx for the help, bro!:)

Thanx Rob, appreciate you listening!

I like the lead guitar position in the stereo field, great mix overall. Nothing to add :) sounds good.

Ahh yes, well they came with some compression then. :D

Maybe the factory will have some tom samples soon if you're interested.
