Hey yall...

I have an Audio-Technica cardiod condenser mic...(AT3035)
and an ART Tube Pre amp, hooked up to a mixer (regular vestax),
then into my sound card (Audiophile Delta2456)

I think my set up is ok...

the problem is that my vocal recordings have a high amount of "s"
which can be extremely annoying to the ear...

I know I should buy a compressor with a deesser, but is there a way to reduce the "sss" without EQ?

Can the problem be filtered by tweaking the mic, or where I place the mic in my room?

Thanks for helpin a rookie out....

A screen filter will improve that problem.
Do you have a d-esser plug in within your recording software ?? That will help as well.

Stealthtech,
I'm using Cool Edit Pro 2 - does it have a d-esser?

and Mixsit, I "think" I know what you mean...

Waves C1 Compressor plug in has a de-esser. But first try what Mixit said... sing into the mic at a bit of an angle or over the top of the mic.
Also, check out your singing technique... learn to cut down on your sibillance.
